Foxfire At Village Green first opened for play in 1972. The course was designed by Hal Purdy.
Foxfire Golf Course is a parkland style course routed through a housing development (townhouses, patio homes, and private residences) with some tree lined fairways, water on a few holes, lightly bunkered with some elevation change and at least half of the holes fairly level.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,877yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,450 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 15, a par-5 that plays to 562 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 17, a par-3 that plays to 174 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 4, a 410 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Foxfire At Village Green Golf Course is # 15, the 562 yard par-5.

Rate played was a weekday rate for seniors. One of the better public coursed in the Syracuse Area. Easily accessable by the NYS Thruway , Exit35 north. Great conditons year around.

The owner of Foxfire has no problem putting money into his course. Foxfire has been improving every year and 2008 is no different. The fairways are better than ever, and the greens are as smooth as silk. A true roll will be had on every green, no exceptions. If any criticism could be made of Foxfire, it is that the bunkers are hard. That is all. The layout rewards shot-shaping ability while remaining fair to players who prefer to hit a straight ball, and offers many risk/reward opportunities with reachable par 5's guarded my impeding rough and small creeks. The course is fairly open much of the time, but there are several holes where you may end up in a back-yard if you let your tee shot get away from you. Foxfire winds through a housing development, and it's no secret.

Tough challenge. Super condition, Fast greens. Affords a good chance to make birdies on numerous holes on each side but also a chance to post a big number. Remodeled clubhouse and restaurant very nice and affordable. A must play if your in the area.

Unbelievably terrible service! Just moved to Syracuse from NYC three weeks ago. Called and booked tee time, told me course schedule was "wide open" all day.
Arrived at course to discover tournament was scheduled. Went to tee off and discovered 3 groups of 4 waiting to tee off ahead of me. Asked manager for refund or rain check, he was extremely rude and reluctant. He tried to tell me there was no tournament going on. There was a putting, closest to hole and long drive contest plus a tournament sign. I've played golf for over 20 years and know a tournament when I see one.
He then had the audacity to tell me "this ain't New York City kid." First of all, I grew up in St. Lawrence County, second of all I'm close to 30 and not a "kid." Manager finally gave me a rain check but was a coward and would not even look me in the eye while being a complete wanker.
